A Breaking Bond

As the night wore on into early morning, more of Rynn’s wizards were found dead or maimed, while others merely disappeared. Movement around town became almost nil, a few measly spies hired by the Wizards’ Guild, and a newly acquired number of similar operatives for certain clergy, went slinking cautiously about CamLok-Rynn, avoiding anything of interest if at all possible.

The priests and priestesses of the great temples gathered some hours earlier at the behest of Pyshar Naught who set up a simple but effective demonstration of her newfound powers.

Most of this pathetic bunch of soul-chasers and soul-cheaters took no interest, their lazy, unfit imaginations incapable of grasping what it meant. However, when Pyshar Naught, in the name of Cicatria of course, offered similar powers to those who pledged themselves to war, of a sort, with the wizards, many greedy eyes lit up. There were a greater number of fearful mutterings, however, at least until the priestess explained the wizards’ plight, which was now common knowledge among thieves and assassins, and indeed some of the general populace. Such knowledge could be purchased for very little, thankfully, Cicatria’s scanty coffers being what they were.

So it was that, one-by-one, Pyshar Naught gave limited instruction to the clerics of Rynn’s provincial godlings as to the magical possibilities now available to them. And so it was that these same clerics began to gather a small army of followers, most actually being paid bodyguards, for a religious assault on CamLok-Rynn which was scheduled for dawn the next day.
